Stuff!!

So, I went to Will Anderson on Saturday, and he is one funny B***ard!! I was a bit
worried about going thinking that he would be as cheesy as he is on The Glass House.
But to my pleasant suprise he was actually very funny.. But, every second word out of his mouth was the
F-word but u get over it, also I would not recommend sitting in the front row on the left
because it is his favourite place to stand and Will has a bit of a spitting problem..it was
quite gross seeing the spit being sprayed on audience members sitting in the above mentioned
seating, I was front row on the right.. Will has added some extra shows for this weekend
and I recommend checking him out!!

Well, its Sunday the day after my supposed B'day celebration. I never did get that Tequila shot, but I did make really great eye contact with this Beautiful Surfer boy at Fridays..Yes folks..I went to Fridays..don't ask why it is a very pathetic club, but for some reason I got talked into going, I think it had something to do with the fact that I was going to get in for free..I am a sucker for freebies!! Anyway, Jean is no longer grading us for these blogs but I just wanted to have some hyperlinks to some peoples' blogs who have at some point in the semester taken the time to comment on my blog. Birthday!!

Just letting people know that it is my Birthday on the 7th. So, please bring presents to uni for me to collect..Thanks..Just Joking People!! So, because my B'day is on a Monday I am making Saturday an honourary (can't spell) Monday, so if u see a girl out on Saturday night and she is acting like a complete fool..well go and wish her Happy B'day b/c I'm sure that that foolish girl will be me..I don't drink but I am going to probably have a few tequila shots on Sat..so that should be quite interesting!!

Goodbye Blog!!

Yippie!! last week to blog, what a relief, but at the same time I am saddened..Even though after today we will no longer be graded and have no need to blog, I do believe that I will continue to do so..if not this account, I will start up another. Even though I have only been interacting with four people via blogs I did feel a little sense of community..so Thanks Jean.. Now "let's get down to business" (Eminem, 2003). After our last tute I now definately feel as though I am ready to attack this assignment..and not a moment too soon.. Ok - so..the Bollywood subculture in BrizVegas..is the music part of the connection to home (India)?? I believe so..but it is not only the music that keeps Indians connected to home (but those factors don't really matter in this essay b/c they are not music related). Therefore, With the help of stores such as Rani Fashion, located at W-Gabba, Indians are able to keep up to date with what (music/movies/gossip) is going on at home. Rani imports all new release movies, which (if u have been paying attention to my blogs)..u will know that the movies are where Indians get their music from (top 40). So, visiting shops like Rani, bring the community together because it also imports food, clothes, newspapers and magazines. Thus, keeping the subculture linked to home. Jean is this the right path??

I'm getting there!!

After Thursday's tute, I feel a little better about my assignment..I still don't know what I'm doing, but I feel better about it. It's going to be something like..Why is the Bollywood subculture in BrizVegas? and if it was anywhere else eg:Sydney or Melbourne; would it be the same? and other stuff..I think I need to email Jean for HELP!! so what are people doing this weekend??I am thinking of going to the Zoo in the Valley to check out a friend of my brothers band..not sure of the name, hopefully there will be lots of cute, drunk men to take advantage of..I kid..I kid!! and SpeedStar are also going to be in the Valley playing at Tivoli. Plus girls two of the band members are pretty cute..not that it matters..its the music that counts right?? Right!! ok well enough blah blah for today off to make really crap comments on other blog pages.

Making Progress with my Assignment!!

Well...only 2 more weeks of Uni!! can u believe it?? I can't..but anyway back to business at hand..The assignment-I think that I know what I am going to write about but AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!! Ok I think that it is going to be on the local and the global as well as concentrating on Bollywood music. and Maybe how the use of the internet enables people of Indian discent to keep in touch with what is happening music wise back in India. Also, I want to touch on word of mouth and how the community stays in touch with each other and how news, gossip, music and movie information is swapped. Word of mouth is a very powerful way of advertising, or if u are a foreigner it is a good way of keeping up with what is happening back home...

Justin Timberlake Concert!!

Well as the title of this post may tell y'all, Justin Timberlake is doing a one night only concert at the Brisbane Convention Center and guess who has a front row ticket??? Well if u guessed me u are smarter than u look!! Ok yes I do realise that I am going to have to fight some teeny boppers in order to have a clear view of my "fantasy man" but I have invested in some stilletto heels, so that if anyone and I mean anyone, grandmothers, young children, adults - try to get in my way they will feel the wrath of my Manolo Blahnik heel where the sun does not shine!! and to anyone out there who thinks that I am a bit weird for wanting to go...well say it to my face!! (I'm not angry)! Yay!!

I have just been doing some research for the second assignment and I came accross a website about Bollywood kicking A** and how it is about to take over Hollywood..I don't know about that, but Bollywood is sure becomming more popular..Thanks to movies like "Monsoon Wedding" and even though "Bend it Like Beckham" is not a Bollywood film it can still be credited to bringing attention to the subculture. This Bollywood site goes on to say how France thinks that Bollywood is the next big thing and how Bollywood is becoming popular in Asia. Also, later this year Bollywood is releasing it's first English film that will also be available in Hindi..but this is quite an achievement for the Indian people involved in Bollywood..I mean they knew that Bollywood would be big in India but...Worldwide!! Wow! Anyway, why am I telling you about Bollywood films? well its because just like in the old days of Hollywood (think "Singing in the Rain and such..) the songs from the musicals were the Top 10 songs that everyone listened to..and this is how it is in Bollywood. All the songs from the movies make up the Top 10 Hit Lists. Their MTV has clips from the movies as the videos, mind due there are Pop Stars, but they all sing on Bollywood films. I think this is what got me interested in Bollywood in the first place..well this and the fact that my best friend is obsessed with everything Bollywood and she is a caucasian (Greek/Scotish). Not that her race matters its just interesting that of all the subcultures to be interested in..Bollywood stood out!!

Assignment Blues!!

Well I'm trying desperately to get started on the assignment, so that I can leave earlier for my holiday overseas. But, it's a slow process, trying to get motivated and having to deal with other assignments and of course lets not forget Blogger!! With our other assignment I was quite enthusiastic about Bollywood music and bringing it to my fellow Mstu peoples...but I have found myself a little bored with the subculture, and I swear it has nothing to do with my disappointing assignment 1 grade (I passed). So, now my dilema is deciding whether or not to start from scratch with the 2nd assignment or to solider on and just get it done even though the subject bores me a little. Please comment and help!!
